Language shapes the way we view the world—and the people in it. At Missouri Prison Reform, we believe in recognizing the humanity of every individual, which is why we avoid words like prisoner, offender, felon, or inmate.

Once we receive the data, we will create detailed reports to expose the truth and hold the system accountable. The truth will come out, no matter how long it takes.

While we are committed to transparency, we want to set clear expectations: this process may take months. This is information the DOC doesn’t want the public to know, and we expect them to delay as long as possible.
