To be abundantly clear: we did not change the rigorous standard for becoming a certified air traffic controller. Those claiming otherwise are mistaken or lying. We did increase funding & training, and grew the ATC workforce after years of declining numbers, including under Trump.

From our earliest days, Black history has always been American history – and Black folks have profoundly shaped our American culture through music, art, literature, sports, and beyond. Bodies are still being pulled from the Potomac. The President and extreme MAGA Republicans are blaming women and people of color for the deadly plane crash. At the same time, they are dismantling the Federal Aviation Administration as we know it. Disgusting.

Tragedy should never be used as a political prop. As families grieve the devastating loss of 67 lives in the Washington, D.C. air disaster, we must stand united in mourning, not division. Instead of compassion, we witnessed a shameful display of insensitivity from the White House. Let us honor the lives lost, demand a thorough investigation, and offer our prayers to the families enduring this unimaginable pain. We are better than this. #RespectTheFallen
