My wife was formerly promiscuous. I was a virgin. She was tired of the party lifestyle. Numerous high school boyfriends. Sorority at college. Internship in production at Miramax. Late night texts from Dolph Lundgren. Then came the LA Clippers D League Christmas Party incident. I had enough. I said if you don’t stop this I’m going to divorce you. That’s when we tried marriage counseling with the pastor at our church. But it turned out she was sleeping with him too so we tried marriage counseling at a DIFFERENT church and that went much better. She has repented and we are both in the process of healing. Due to the trauma associated with her past she has developed intimacy issues and we have yet to actually consummate our marriage, but these things take time. As a couple, we avoid things that trigger her emotionally: alcohol, parties, disco balls, MDMA, the music of P. Diddy, police sirens, Rocky IV, strawberries, corduroy, ground lamb, mayonnaise, Courtney Love. The work is ongoing but I know we’ll get there.

Farmers die from suicide at 3.5 times the rate of the rest of society. I'm convinced one contributing factor to Ag's tragic suicide rate is a lack of effective estate planning, as is the case with this Iowa farmer's story in the article. Look at the business model of farms, where there is oftentimes no clearly defined business, just a collection of assets. 77% of farms don't even have an estate plan, while many that do are woefully inadequate or outdated. Now look at the next generation operator's stress factors: a. Ownership and inheritance squabbles create family strife, so the owning generation simply avoids making difficult decisions, thereby leaving a huge conflict for their offspring to endure. b. Generational pressure to "keep the family farm going" with no defined strategy or business plan in place to make that happen. c. Add to the mix of stress: burdensome debt, societal expectation, isolation, small town judgement and the daily reality of Ag marketplace concerns and you're looking at a powder keg ready to blow up. I'm no mental health expert. I'm not judging this man or his family and I don't know all the details of their operation. What I do know is suicide leaves a wake of disaster for the family and friends left behind. If the thought of your son or daughter killing themself isn't motivation enough for you to set up a succession plan and clearly communicate this plan, then you're not just irresponsible, you're despicable. farmprogress.com/farm-life/life…

This is a great example of the failure of credentialism. Random people have to explain basic political science to a so-called “Professor of Political Science.” The Strait of Hormuz issue is the perfect “allies” test. The United States has very little direct interest in the strait, as almost none of its ships or energy flows pass through there. So before the United States starts doing all the heavy lifting, it is the ideal moment to ask those who actually benefit from the strait being open what they are willing to contribute. The fact that they all said nothing is proof of what Trump has been saying all along, that supposed “allies” are really just freeloaders. The faux outrage from people saying, "The Big 12 changed out the glass court for the men but NOT the women" are looking for a controversy that doesn't exist. Had the Big 12 Conference made the women play the entire tournament on the glass floor and then switched it out before Game 1 for the men, they MAY have had an argument. But 12 of the 15 men's games were played on the glass floor, until the glass floor became a bigger story than the games itself. So the league pivoted. Is the Big 12 supposed to risk more issues and injury because they're afraid of some nonsensical made-up storyline that is fabricated by a handful of social media trolls looking to create a wedge between the men and women?
