Absolutely gutting morning on Hadrian's Wall. No more Sycamore Gap.

We are shocked and desperately saddened to learn that the famous Sycamore Gap tree at Hadrian's Wall has been felled overnight, in what appears to be an act of vandalism. We know just how much this iconic tree is loved locally, nationally and by everyone who has visited. We are working with our partners to understand what has happened and what can be done. The incident has also been reported to the police.

Extraordinary to hear Steve Barclay on @BBCr4today this morning, arguing that doctors cannot be offered a fair pay deal to make up for the huge depreciation in wages over previous decades - because teachers are paid so little. We should pay teachers more too! Why should these key workers in the public sector be penalised and exploited for not choosing to work in the private sector?

@HasisD Presume you are referring to Johnson's old 'covid' phone and his WhatsApp messages - I am sure the security services can find a metal box to sit it and down load the messages!

In my experience the phone could be switched on and tested quite easily by someone sat on a Pendolino train on the West Coast mainline. No fear of connecting to a signal whatsoever #FaradayCage
