This summer, two 25-metre-deep #permafrost boreholes were drilled on the #Jungfrau at 4130 m above sea level by the canton in collaboration with @SLF. A construction site with a unique view, but great challenges in terms of logistics, construction techniques and work safety.

The lack of snow in early winter can – at least temporary – cool the permafrost (as for example in winter 2016/17). In spring/early summer, however, the effect is the opposite (as for example last year)

Im Jahr 2022 ist der Schweizer #Permafrost besonders stark aufgetaut. Klar zutage tritt das Problem, wenn Felsbrocken sich vom #Berg lösen oder wenn Bergbahnen und #SAC-Hütten plötzlich Probleme mit dem Untergrund kriegen.
