One of my favorite examples for it was when they included Inazuma's leitmotiv in the cutscene of Yoimiya's second sq🥹 it made an already beautiful moment feel even more meaningful and very personal to the character

Genshin made a different choice: they make their own themes meaningful by using them in key moments. Imagine if Rukkhadevata's farewell happened on an insert song. It might be impactful on the moment, yes. But when you hear "For Riddles, For Wonders" now? It hits so, so hard.
