Very importantly, he speaks very well, has a good voice, good tone, and great command over the language, so he can deliver both technical and casual. And he is bound by the need to make sense. The new Indian comms have none of these things.

He's genuinely a world class broadcaster. Asks the right questions, keeps the right attitude, all the while keeping things interesting for a common viewer. He feels MORE relatable to me as an audience specifically because he's not an ex-cricketer with anecdotes to yap about.

For a minimum of 10 innings played in RCB colours, Tim David, Jitesh Sharma & Phil Salt have the highest strike rates in the franchise's history. Small sample size, but a large part of the reason for RCB's recent dominance from a batting POV. Tracking the bounce at Chinnaswamy and buying tall bowlers. Chinnaswamy data shows high bounce and sideways movement. So buying Hazlewood and Duffy is a masterstroke. It also adds to the early wickets pursuit. Again, these are very basic-seeming things. But they put them ahead.

RCB success is a testament to analytics in cricket. Through a basic adherence to early-Cricviz cricket theory, assiduous T20 bookkeeping, following the fundamentals of analytics, and tracking some advanced metrics, they've built a crazy team. It's just following the basics well.

This DC batting order looks interesting. Too many anchor-style players, however. Does KL follow last year's template and just keep going for it? Especially as they start with Nissanka and have Miller-Stubbs together in the middle, who will both take some time to get in before going big. Surely, there could have been a case for Porel to start? Strikes at 151 in the PP over the last 3 seasons. #IPL #DCvsLSG
