Tonight on #LoveIsland the infamous ‘Twitter challenge’ will return in the form of ‘Receipts, Tea and Truth’ — islanders can choose to hear quotes others have said in the villa, or quotes people have said online, and must figure out what/who the quote is about.

What’s diversity got to do with this incident? It wasn’t my Black cousin photographed who crashed? Racist idiot
Ian Miles Cheong@ianmiles

Two East Midlands trains collided near Bedford today. One from Corby, one from Nottingham, both heading to London St Pancras. The rear one hit the train in front after it had stopped, around 5:15pm. Passengers said it felt like a bomb going off. Smoke, people thrown from seats, blood everywhere. They had to get out through damaged doors in the middle of the chaos. One person confirmed dead so far, dozens injured including 11 very serious cases. It's been declared a major incident. Air ambulances, fire, police and paramedics all turned up fast. The line's shut and hospitals are dealing with it. The Rail Accident Investigation Branch is looking into exactly what happened. Early reports suggest the lead train stopped, possibly over a safety system issue, and the one behind didn't stop in time. This comes after rail companies have spent years pushing diversity targets in driver recruitment. Over the last couple of years there were comments from diversity leads at places like GTR noting that most drivers are middle-aged white men and calling for more varied hires to bring "creativity and fun" into the job. The emphasis was less on putting the most experienced and qualified people in the seat. The BBC complained that there were simply too many middle-aged white men driving the trains. It didn't matter that they were hired for their competence or that they held their jobs because of their experience. What matters is that they had to go. Diversity was more important. Jobs where one mistake can kill people don't run on good intentions or optics. They run on competence, training, experience and focus. When any of that gets treated as secondary to other priorities, passengers end up paying for it. Britain needs the investigation to be proper and transparent. No rushing to conclusions before the facts are clear. But the basic point stands: critical roles like this can't afford to compromise on who does them. Thoughts with everyone caught up in it and their families.
