@DanNeidle Brexit and increased levels of long-term sickness
English

As it stands, no decision has been made on Scott Parker's future.
But should Burnley opt to part ways, @reluctantnicko is reporting Steven Gerrard is under consideration.

@ryan_murton Totally agree. Some story going around about Walker staying on next year… those wages for an aging player in the championship is what gets clubs into the position Leicester are in. And we don’t have any players who will bring in much, unlike last time. I fear for the future
English

Leicester City and Luton Town should be real eye openers for the Burnley ownership.
5+ years into their project - they have shown they have no idea how to run a football club.
They need to bring people in that do.
Swallow your pride!

@jake_aspin98 @claretcrumpet Agree in principle, but the recruitment team has repeatedly proven that you don’t always buy better
English

@claretcrumpet For me, its the only time those loan to buys, don't work. If you loan him in, gets you promoted and then you can go buy better.
English

4 pros signed in the EFL
3 with obligations to buy
Some have been critical of this. For me, it’s the ONE bit of the recruitment process, we got right.
Some of our best players this season. Their values will have increased.
Build the 26/27 side around them!

@ijdb74 @PDBertram @anon_opin That social aspect has mostly disappeared since the domination of FOBT machines. They are no longer pleasant places to hang out. Their differentiation is that they take cash and are easier to get around problem gambling / AML protections than online
English

@readthebus @PDBertram @anon_opin I hear they have online gambling now.
It’s a working class thing to meet in the bookies, you may want totalitarianism but most people don’t.
English

@PDBertram @anon_opin Completely rational. But that’s the function of governments, they intervene when the market fails to deliver a desirable outcome for society
English

@readthebus @anon_opin Imagine a business targeting the demand? Crazy model!
English

@claretcrumpet Amusing that they emphasise that EVERY Burnley fan would remember that goal, but they clearly aren’t a fan
English

Who is writing these pieces and why is no one checking them?
I’ve been saying this for 4-5 years now. Whats going on?
And YES, it really does matter!

English

@sgevans What does that mean? (Serious question, am interested, not trolling!)
English

Lots of elements to this of course (on and off field) but the overarching one is - this is what happens when you lose your football identity.
ESPN FC@ESPNFC
The state of Italian football: • In jeopardy of missing third straight World Cup • Scudetto holders Napoli knocked out in UCL league stage • Current Serie A leaders Inter Milan DOMINATED by Bodø/Glimt • Atalanta and Juventus both lost their playoff game by 2+ goals and are on the verge of elimination • An Italian team haven't won the UCL since 2009-10 Tough 🤯
English

@carlyblade @JimmyRambleYT Normally yeah. But they’ve been relegated since August. Everyone knew they were down. But we expected you to be pushing for promotion. So relative to expectations, your season is worse
English

@TheBurnleyWay Wasn’t great last week though. Definitely better as a sub
English

Not the first time this season we’ve been better following the introduction of Ashley Barnes.
Although technically past his sell by date, he clearly moves them up a level. Wouldn’t be the worst idea to drop him in next Saturday.

@nathanrogersfbl @TurfCastPodcast Agree with most of that. Biggest worry is where we’ll be in a couple of years. Unacceptably high chance that we’ll be left with high debts and insufficient income to service it. Then it’s a dark dark place
English

@CWeatherspoon_ @TurfCastPodcast The only way out would be to get a promotion to the prem then not spend a penny and use the TV money to pay off the debt. But fans wouldn’t accept that. I fear what happens if we fail to bounce back straight away
English

@TheBurnleyWay Then need a right winger who can help him out as not (yet?) good enough in prem
English

@TheBurnleyWay @BFCTurf We didn’t have a goalscorer in the championship, we definitely don’t in the prem. Certainly none sitting on the bench
English

@BFCTurf Myth. We have one of the strongest squads we’ve had in the PL.
He’s choosing not to play game changers.
English

Sunderland’s manager makes a triple substitution that wins them the game btw.
Sunderland AFC@SunderlandAFC
RLB makes a triple change... 🔛 Brobbey, Hume, Mundle ↩️ Isidor, Talbi, Traoré Welcome back, Romaine 😍
English

Discussions continue as the EFL board consider expanding the Championship play-offs to include teams finishing 7th and 8th per @SkySportsNews.
Do you think they should be expanded? 🤔

English

@TheBurnleyWay Nah, good for him. Not going to make it in the PL and this is his last chance for big bucks
English

YOUR TEAM
- Bruun Larsen in for Sonne
- Ugochukwu in for Laurent
Thoughts?

What did we do in a past life to deserve these horrific starts every time we get to the PL
