@Indiuca Oh, I never said you were racist. I was simply explaining why the term isn’t socially acceptable to use, regardless of it being reclaimed. At the end of the day, I can’t control what you choose to say. I’m merely here to shed light on what you were called out for. That’s all :)

@redbuone But still, I do acknowledge your point that the term was still used to discriminate people of color especially back in the spanish colonization. If you take what I said out of context, I do apologize for it but I’d still argue that I wasn’t being racist at all, in any bit.

@Indiuca @badreligiyon You can’t bring up people being so “americanized” when the unfortunate reality is that the term has ALWAYS been used in a way that carries a negative connotation for years in the Philippines

@Indiuca @badreligiyon It has always been used in a derogatory term. Deny it all you want, but that’s the truth and that’s exactly why people are discouraged from saying it. It not being classified as a slur doesn’t make it okay to casually throw it around, because it’s still colorist in nature
