When Rory was a kid, his mom and dad worked multiple jobs to be able to give Rory a chance at becoming the best player in the world. His dad was a bartender, and then went to his second job scrubbing toilets in order to afford range balls for Rory. His family has deep, sad connections to The Troubles. He doesn’t have the background of your typical pro golfer. Rory comes from a complicated background, and is known as one of the most complicated pro’s to understand. He can be divisive. But he’s human. He doesn’t just give the PR trained answers of most professional athletes. He gives his honest thoughts, even if those thoughts aren’t always accurate. He’s also not afraid to change his stance on topics when he becomes more informed. This is a rare quality for someone who has had their every public comment and action broadcasted to an international audience since they were a teenager. To finally defeat his demons at Augusta last year, in front of an audience of millions. And then to do it again this year, is why sports are great. It’s why golf is great.

Sergio smashing his club is so daft! I say all the time, that it’s not acceptable at all. What I find odd is that there are a lot of people being very vocal and posting videos didn’t do the same when Hadwin smashed a sprinkler, Wyndham smashed and advertising sign, Shane took a huge chunk out the fairway, Rory smashed a tee marker. It’s almost like there is a bias somewhere? If only I could work out what it was 🙄
