@mapq We need to first stop focusing on “teaching” and start focusing of “facilitating learning”. That’s a key paradigmatic change that the CSEd field needs to adopt, specially for novices. Whether the learner will go on to be a programmer, scientist or none it is beyond instruction

CSEd friends... should we teach programming for a professional developer (e.g. someone making a living writing code) vs. a computational scientist (e.g. data science, bioinformatics) the same way? Should the intro programming course be the same? When/where do they differ?

With emails to prove the distressing situation I was put in, I am told “you could have called” by the Director of Legal. I’m utterly disappointed with the treatment and approach of the situation by @Dynacare. I would like to ask for help to seek alternative avenues of resolution

The last I imagined I would be subjected to was to have a meeting with @Dynacare where I would be told “you could have...”. Well, you could have just done the simple and right job of sending me my test report on time and you didn’t. I refuse your attempt at victim-blaming

Update on the situation with @Dynacare: I finally reached home, yesterday afternoon. Dynacare had reached out to me Monday pm but the email went to my spam folder. On Wed am they reached out to me again through Twitter and email. Thanks to everyone for their support

6 So, after much consideration the only solution was to give me an exceptional 72hr visa so that I could reach the airline, reschedule my flight, get a new covid test and depart on Wed. I couldn’t thank enough the officers for that little miracle

1 Briefly, here is what I went through: after being denied boarding on Sunday afternoon, I was advised to go to AirCanada service desk to arrange a flight back to Canada. AirCan desk was closed and would only open Monday am. Also, I do not have a UK visa nor visa-free passport

5 Issue is, the only flight I could take was scheduled to Wed. So, the immigration officer told me that if they would give me the 24hr visa they would essentially detain me the next day as I would not have left the UK in that timeframe

4 After spending 3hrs trying to help me out with no luck, an officer at the airport had to accompany me to immigration and plead with them to give me a temporary visa. If it would happen it could only be a 24hr visa

3 Trying to get to Qatar airways, I’m told their desk is outside the intl area. I would have to pass through immigration to reach them. So, I can’t go back, can’t go out and can’t go forward thanks to @Dynacare

2 After spending the night very uncomfortably at the terminal, I reach the AirCan desk only to know that all flights had been cancelled due to #covid outbreak. Was advised to return to onward flight airline: Qatar Airways. Couldn’t go back, couldn’t get out. Had to continue trip

I don't think that's right. I don't think that's fair. I don't think companies should do this to clients and act as if nothing happened. This should never have happened @Dynacare. As it did the least you should do is acknowledge it. #befair

Hi Twitter world. I'm requesting you to retweet this thread until someone at @Dynacare responds about my concern. They failed to send my Covid test report on time, did not respond other than sending me a no longer valid report and I'm having a nightmare of a trip because of this

All dealing with apathy from @Dynacare. After numerous emails and feedback submissions, all I received was an email with a no longer valid report. No acknowledgement or any type of response that could seem remotely human given the situation I was put in
