SHAPE presented "Demolition as Design" at Richmond’s Internal Workshop "Demolition to Transform." showcasing projects that retain building elements & salvage heritage materials. Rethinking demolition as an opportunity to reduce carbon footprints & enhance architectural intent.

Grange, a high-rise residential development underpinned by heritage, reconciliation, and accessibility principles. The project aims to restore and preserve the original timber-frame façade while integrating a new residential podium tower above the heritage structure.

We're dedicated to creating affordable rental housing to tackle the housing crisis. UEL Menno Hall, a 6-story mixed-use development with student housing + community spaces connects the UBC campus and surrounding areas through fragmented massing as shown in this diagram.

“What a great small town library…We love to stop at local libraries when we travel around BC, and this is one of the best.” It’s rewarding to see a space continue to be well-received after its completion. The Columbia Valley Community Facility includes a vibrant public library.

We use physical models to bring our ideas to life. Placing a massing model within the site context allows the team to explore how the design's form relates to its surroundings, leading to solutions that are more thoughtful and well-integrated into their environments.

A cyanotype is a slow-reacting photographic printing process that results in a cyan-blue image on paper. We incorporated cyanotyping into this year's holiday card by blending this age-old technique with SHAPE Architecture design aesthetics!

The UBC Applied Science Digital Design Studio will be an innovative facility shared between UBC's School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture and the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department. The design will emphasize "making," showcasing collaboration.

A new interdisciplinary space for the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture and the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department is currently under construction! This laboratory will be a place to test innovative teaching, design, and making methodologies.
