Simple Bitcoin - Get Bitcoin by learning about it

Bitcoin continues to hold on to the $65-$70k range as it is trying to form a base following its mild winter from $126k to $60k. The current level is supported by the technicals (previous highs) as well as the Bitcoin/gold ratio and the deviation of Bitcoin from its power law curve.

It's actually not that complicated. 1. Printing money is easy and fixes things short term. So governments always do it. Left or Right. 2. The printed money grows faster than the economy, so it ends up in hard assets. 3. Until Bitcoin, that meant houses, stocks and gold. But these are all not easily movable. You can't zip some shares of Apple to your cousin in Mexico. Or your condo in NYC. Or your 3 gold bars. 4. Bitcoin is actually the perfect product market fit for the money printing problem. And it's working . Perfect Power Law. 1,000,000x since Oct 2010. 5. The power law comes with 80% vol. That means big corrections. But massive returns if you HODL. 6. All other crypto can't compete and are peddling false narratives ("greener", "world computer", "more quantum safe"). Ignore.

@henrybomby @hope_currencies Previous question was not related to the theoretical mechanics of their financial instrument. Bitcoin can succeed while Strategy can still fail. If the base assumption is that STRC is “risk-free” because Bitcoin will not fail, then the risks are being obscured. Time will tell.

As the price of STRC drops, the effective dividend rate paid increases. The mechanism always drags back to par. If Bitcoin doesnt fail, MSTR is so overcollateralised that it can always pay the dividend, bringing confidence back. What they have built is an effective free market for the risk free, or interest rates. More sellers than buyers, rate naturally increases until buyers come in. More buyers than sellers, system can either expand or they can drop the rate. Time and track record across market conditions will be the key here. The fact they are growing and scaling during a 50% drawdown of BTC perhaps tells you all you need to know?

@henrybomby @hope_currencies What about non-Bitcoin related risks? The market can easily loose confidence in Strategy Inc. and a huge sell-off is always on the table.

If BTC goes to £0 then yes the ultimate risk is a 10% loss. Often being in the product for 6 months or more you end up above where you would be in the scenario so you need to ask if you think that will happen. MSTR only needs BTC to go up more than ~2% a year to pay the dividend forever, if it goes up less or down there is still 20+ years of dividend coverage if they had to sell the BTC.
