I was once talking to a guy who told me his favorite swallow is fufu and that he never buys the ready-made kind. He said he makes it completely from scratch, as in starting with grated cassava, cooking it, and then pounding it himself. I honestly did'nt believe him until he sent me pictures of not one, but two different sizes of mortars in his kitchen.

What I’ve grown to understand is that you can’t mix business with pleasure. My mum was one of the kindest people I knew.she would give away her own food and sometimes go without eating herself. Because of her generosity, many people surrounded her, but some took advantage of it. In her provision shop, people would take goods on credit and never pay back, even when they had the money, they’ll go to another place to go buy something. As a child, I knew something wasn’t right, but I couldn’t fully understand it then. There was another woman selling similar goods who was much stricter. I used to think she was wicked, but I later realized that boundaries are necessary if you don’t want to keep suffering losses. What I’ve learned is that kindness is a good thing, but without boundaries, some people will take advantage of it in a negative way and you’ll be the one to bear the loss.

I just got off the phone with a friend who has been house hunting for months. He told me about an apartment he found yesterday where the landlord refused to use an agent because he thinks paying almost 20–30% of the rent as agent fees is outrageous.
Some things really do sound too good to be true.
