Missing genes due to introns and poor 3’ annotations is such a big problem across so many single-cell datasets and @Allan_HPool’s method offers a rational, systematic way to address it. So happy to see this work out now!

@sisichen @Slate Yeah, it's terrible. Been almost 5 years for me. Awful experience BUT it got me to start studying the science of skin vs. the science of skincare products more deeply and now I'm obsessed!

@jessicadefino_ @Slate However! I do think some products can be helpful. I was a beauty product minimalist for most of my life, but now swear by a few things: a ceramide face cream. and vitamin C and niacinimide to help with fading age spots. and sunscreen.

@jessicadefino_ @Slate Totally, I'm really wary of most products with intense active ingredients (like retinoids) since they can cause more damage.

@jessicadefino_ @Slate Ah I see! Steroid withdrawal is insane. I have a friend who got steroid addicted due to bad eczema and his whole body erupted in rashes that didn't resolve for about two years.

@sisichen @Slate Ha! I have struggled w/ my skin for decades. Been on (prescription) Accutane, topical steroids, antibiotics, retinoids. Tried every product known to man. Still struggle w/ resuming skin barrier function after Topical Steroid Withdrawal (cont'd)

@jessicadefino_ @Slate Do you think need for beauty products is just highly individual? Perhaps you were simply blessed with tremendously high-functioning skin

@jessicadefino_ @Slate Congrats on finally getting it published! The article mostly resonates... except on the necessity of moisturizers. My skin is incredibly dry in the climate I live in (socal). Even when I don't use soap, I have to use ceramide cream or else i get dry flaky patches....

The leading edge is an incredible group of insanely talented scientists. I can't recommend it more.
