I don't think people coming to Gardenview would be *violently* homophobic towards Glisten. Antagonistic fem men were a frequent cartoon trope in the 80s-90s. Vanity Smurf, HIM from PPG, Scar from The Lion King, etc.
He'd be sooner laughed at by audiences for his flamboyancy.
