@spellboundprose Destiny. I would love it if they turned it into a Netflix show or a film. Its lore is so deep though, I don’t think a film would be enough. ❤️

Tell me a video game you’d love to see as a tv series/movie. I have 2: Legend of Zelda: I know they are making a live action version (I don’t have high hopes for it) But animated, particularly Studio Ghibli style? Yes please Baldur’s Gate If they use the original voice actors.

@TAR_Kirk I have literally said this exact thing to my husband. There’s not a single soul on this planet who wouldn’t look amazing in a cloak. They are my favorite fantasy accessory, and it’s not even close.

Unpopular opinion: We need to bring back cloaks. Not as costumes. As actual, everyday fashion. Flowy. Dramatic. Warm. Mysterious. Those of you that have been following me here for awhile know that I have stated this opinion here before.

@spellboundprose There are no rules. Meaning there is no one path to success, make up your own rules as you go. That's how successful people made it. Following 'rules' limits you and your potential.

What's the best advice you've ever received (doesn't need to be writing-related)? For me, it was "don't sweat the small stuff, and it's all small stuff." (very challenging to put into practice)

@spellboundprose That's good! For me: Let go the past, ya can't change it. Don't sweat the future, it is completely unknown - you could worry yourself sick about something that actually never happens. LIVE TODAY! Make today the very best day you can!

@spellboundprose Great question! Charles Darwin always reminds me: Nurture your descendants—it’s the Meaning of Life. A close 2nd, from Søren Kierkegaard (loosely loosely translated): Embrace the Absurd. My advice: Have a great Friday!

@KT_Carlisle I wish every author success, regardless of the path they choose. It’s important to remember that success must be measured in more than sales. It’s the craft, the pouring of your soul onto paper, the connection to readers and others.

@KT_Carlisle Thank you for sharing. I agree no route is easier than the other, & each author needs to pick the path that’s right for them, knowing it will be a lot of (rewarding) work. I made the switch for my mental health, knowing full well the trad route would pose its own challenges.🧵

🚨 This is not to put anyone off the trad publishing route, this is just an observation. 🚨 I see a lot of authors on here talk about querying/going trad as though doing so will lighten their load somehow. But it's important to keep in mind the realities of publishing, whether you choose the trad route or self-publishing. One of the biggest misconceptions out there is that once you get an agent and go the trad route, you don't have to do everything yourself, but nothing could be further from the truth. Yes, depending on the agency you sign with, you may have access to an editor right away, but many times this is not the case until you've secured a deal from a publishing house (which, as many agented authors unfortunately know after being on sub, may not happen as quickly as you wish—if ever). Additionally, you still are going to be the one responsible for marketing your book, which is a full-time job in itself. As recent studies and court cases have revealed, publishers allocate less than 2% of their annual budget toward marketing, and almost none of that goes toward new authors. This is a big reason why celebrities and social media influencers have an easier time securing book deals (often without manuscripts): They have an established audience and publishers know they can leverage that to their advantage and get more sales. The reality of this industry is that it's hard work no matter which route you take, and you have to be prepared to do it and do it well if you want to be successful. Being traditionally published is not a guarantee that you'll get thousands of copies sold just like being self-published is not a guarantee that you'll never sell more than a handful of books. Ultimately, one route isn't inherently better (or easier) than the other. Writing and publishing books is all about karmic energy—what you give in is what you'll get back.

Characters: *trying to hook up* Me: wait, what are you doing? Them: *smooch smooch* Me: hello! I'm in charge and nobody is supposed to hook up in this story! Them: *buttons rip, pants unzip* Me: Oh man, you're really going for it ...
