@tfpump @datadriven_tdoc Olson-Kennedy, until very recently the head of one of the largest gender clinics in the US, and the current head of USWPATH is on record as saying that mental health evaluations are unnecessary. Something like: I don’t send a patient to a psychologist for an insulin prescription.

Here’s another uncomfortable truth about Transsexual healthcare.
Medicalization does not work as well for natal women who want to live as men.
Natal women are nearly the entire population of detransitioners. Testosterone, being an incredibly powerful drug, introduces serious health complications. And the biggest problem is the social contagion. Most of these girls are gonna grow out of it, unlike properly diagnosed trans women.
I am a literal transsexual, and if I had a teenage daughter wanting to transition, I would not affirm her gender. I would let her express herself however, she wished, but I would not introduce testosterone into the equation.
In my view, male to female transsexuals are a completely different phenomenon than whatever is going on with these natal girls.
The truth is, we basically copied the criteria we use for transsexual women assuming we are the same thing. Recent evidence suggests we are not.

But for the other side, under their definitions, they did in fact trans the gay kid straight. The problem is I believe strongly both that there are primary transsexual people who felt so much interior produced pain about their gender that transition makes sense as the best option AND that there are a significant enough number of gay kids whose primary pain is wrestling with their gayness, and transition seems like a solution to that. I understand why trans people are defensive about that, but it is harming the kids whose primary mental anguish is caused by gayness, not gender dysphoria.

@TroonPlanet As a gay man I am not attracted to both. I want manly men. I also respect trans men but they will never be a man to me. I will never be attracted to a trans man and it’s really offensive when trans men invade gay male spaces or come on our sex apps.
