Sad to hear of the passing of Jean Boht today, grew up watching her rule the roost in the TV series Bread and I have been collecting pottery chickens for years because of this. (Just a small selection)

@flying_boatman It used to be tips down when wooden oars were all the rage so as not to wear a hole in the spoon (and blades had a copper edged tip) swapped to tips up when boatmen realised it was easier to repair new composite blade faces than the tips.

This significant blade tip repair has got me wondering... Tips up or tips down? Some of you will have been coached to do it one way or another when you come to the dock, but why? Did your coach or club know why they do it? Let me know below.
