@twinkhoncreole they were able to exist as nb outside of clinics but like. having to erase yourself to see the doctor every few months is fucking dismal.

this is part of why a lot of people had an easier time getting low dose T when informed consent was first introduced because it didn’t give as intense of changes and was basically what they were giving women with menopause anyway

we’re really about to be back in the 1960s re: lgbt people in the public eye because testosterone cream and pills are being advertised through subscriptions for (aging) women with hormonal imbalances. some trans men used to get on T through that method.

@twinkhoncreole i knew several nonbinary people in the 2010s who outwardly identified as binary trans wo(men) so they could access transition healthcare because doctors didn’t get ‘why’ they wanted hormones or surgery if they’re nonbinary. it was bleak.

@torturefuntime its honestly more like endocrinologists and the medical establishment appropriated parts of nonbinary ideology to try and temper it because people freely transitioning and fucking with their hormones to change their sex is a threat to the social order

this is part of why i can understand transmedicalism to an extent (lots of complaints with it, actually) because trans healthcare was redefined to push nonbinary ideals but also completely didn’t understand that nonbinary people could want different things for transitioning

low dose T is ‘valid’ (hate that term, but it works here) for some people’s goals but every trans man and nonbinary person was immediately suggested that in the 2010s when people wanted more obvious effects

btw this isn’t precisely a great thing but i’m noticing and it could be a loophole to pursue. another aspect of trans history is that trans people would get hormones prescribed (ie estrogen for a ‘woman’) and swap it for what they actually wanted to transition

@noqueefsgiven that used to be standard in the usa because of the way t changes breast tissue and fat redistribution but it’s really not necessary if you’re removing and reconstructing everything

Disabled women are amongst the discarded underclasses of human beings. Sex work is disproportionally represented by disabled women, can you not see the energy/spoons difference between working on your feet as a cashier or SW/OF at your own pace at home w your own supports?
