@uhstrack Yes. All incoming runners have in right hand. Give to outgoing runners left and they switch to right - like a 4x400. Just need to keep baton moving and not have it slow down

𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: 49ers superstar RB Christian McCaffrey posted a behind-the-scenes look at his INSANE offseason workout program. CMC is one of the best athletes we've ever seen. Many people don't realize how hard this is. 🤯🤯🤯

I will continue to expose track coaches who break their sprinters. Imagine a good sprinter after missing a week with a strained quad… Day-1: 200, 150, 100 Day-2: 4x200, 4x90, 4x60, 4x30 Now he has a hip flexor issue. What if there was a way to get fast, stay healthy, and have a blast doing it?

If a coach is telling you to sport specialize they do not have your best interests in mind. You will never convince me otherwise…There is a ton of development that comes with being a multiple sport athlete that translates to the other sports you do!

When Grant was summoned to Washington to lead the Union armies, no one knew how he'd perform against the redoubtable Bobby Lee. One of Lincoln's close friends questioned him. The conversation was written down. Lincoln's friend asked, "How is General Grant?" Lincoln cried out, "He's a general! He's the first general I've had." His friend, taken aback, "What do you mean?" Lincoln replied, "Every other general when they examine their situation for a while come to me, and they say, 'Well I don't think we can win, but here's a plan I've come up with, and if YOU, President, order me to do it, we'll try.' I don't know anything about commanding troops! Now General Grant doesn't ask me a thing. He just leads the armies out to campaign. I love it." Lincoln's friend tried another tack. "But do you think Grant can handle Robert E. Lee?" Lincoln put on his pensive face, and replied, "Well, whenever I appoint a new general, he examines the situation for a while, then he asks for something impossible. When I can't provide it, he counsels despair. Well, when Grant took office, HE came to me too. I thought he would be asking me for horses, because we have 12,000 trained cavalrymen in northern Maryland without any horses for them. And sure enough he mentioned those cavalrymen. He said, 'President Lincoln, we have 12,000 men without horses.' Then I waited for his impossible demand. But Grant said, 'Should we discharge them and send them home, or retrain them as infantry.' Grant gave me a SOLUTION."

The reason I am on this US Grant kick is that I spent many days last week in the back room of a fabled Washington DC restaurant, eating crab cakes and drinking iced tea with my gorgeous wife while looking up from my barstool at this painting. It just got to me after a while.

@CoachDistance When I started coaching in 94 nobody ran over 30 mpw. Most of it was easy running too. I found a lot of success with Knudson’s speed based training. Now it’s mileage plus speed. The best of both worlds.

This is one reason why HS distance running is so deep right now. 50-55 mpw for the typical HS boy wasn’t that typical in the 90/00’s.

Got this question from a first-year Chemistry teacher: “What did you do on your first two days?” ⤵️ I spent day 1-2 on the topic of “Interesting & Interested”. Each kid had to say ONE INTERESTING THING about their family or themselves as an individual. For each kid, I asked follow up questions and usually found out the career of their parents, ancestors, their hobbies, family vacations, etc. It was riveting for both me and the entire class. (Best two days of the school year!) At the end of day-2, I told my story and why I married my wife (she was interesting and interested). I told my students they were not yet interesting enough. How do you become interesting? 💥 Work hard to become good at something. 💥 Read interesting books, be intellectually curious. 💥 Do things! Do lots of things. Be active, not passive. Get off your phone and go outdoors. 💥💥💥 Become interested in others. Interested people become INTERESTING to others. Asking someone lots of questions shows interest in that person. That person is honored by your interest. They will likely start asking YOU questions. I met my wife on my first day living in Harrisburg, IL. She asked me at least a dozen questions. We’ve now been married over 40 years. 🙂 We are attracted to interesting and interested people. My Chemistry classs liked me after the first two days of school, and I liked them. Kids are good at what they like, obsessed with what they love. Start the school year right!
