I ❤️ Xmas: our family,from around the 🌎, comes 2gether. We've developed special traditions thru the years& 1 of my fav's is to DIY a ridiculously #extravagant #advent 🗓️ with a serial, family-themed story. This year I used some old Nature's- I think it turned out quite beautiful

@chrstn_e Yes, totally agree! Though I wonder, as things get cheaper/more automated whether single-cell may ultimately largely replace bulk seq, just as HTS has largely replaced qPCR.

Very happy to announce that I have been awarded an ERC starting grant to open my own lab. Many people have helped me in achieving this big success, but first and foremost would like to thank my husband and my family for supporting me in this journey…

A big thank you to ERC for selecting my lab for one of this year’s starting grants! This award will enable us to explore the molecular mechanisms of DNA homology search using computational 3D genome models.

@_taktas_ @AArgoetti In my experience they are also savvy abt looking at more than just the publications. E.g. what happens to lab alumni? Does the PI talk abt work of lab members? How "open" is the lab (tool/resource sharing)? How collaborative? A good website is an easy way to show such info

@AArgoetti I don't know what exactly cool means here 😅 but apparently, if the lab doesn't have a substantial digital footprint, the younger generations might think the lab is no longer active 🤷♀️

I had a recent conversation with the people in the lab, and I wonder what the hive mind would think 🤔 Does having a "cool" lab website increase the chances of good scientists applying to that lab? (You can also comment)

I feel like such a grumpy "things used to be better before" person when I look for recipes on the internet: you never just get the recipe anymore, first you have to scroll through the recipe's history, nutrient information, adaptations... 🧁👩🏻🍳🍪

I don't usually post abt hotels, but had a really #unique experience staying in a 19th century tower. Absolutely ❤️ the owner's efforts to keep the ambience of the place, incl an original signature by a US soldier liberating the tower in 1945 #hiddenBelgium #OffTheBeatenPath
