Wayne Rooney was a better player than Neymar no matter what. You can say whatever you want, but if you think Neymar was better, you’re just capping. Messi elevated Neymar’s career Rooney didn’t need that. Can Neymar play DM? Can Neymar play LW, RW, SS, ST, AMF, MF Can he drop into midfield and run a game? Can he win matches with a 9 defensive players in the pitch against Real Madrid? Rooney led Manchester United to two UEFA Champions League finals against that elite Barcelona side. Can Neymar carry Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain to multiple European finals like that?

Luke Shaw not being called up is ridiculous. There seems to be a strange narrative surrounding him, but when he’s fit, he’s a top quality footballer who absolutely deserves to be on that plane.
