Excellent share. Rosuvastatin outperformed garlic, turmeric, plant sterols and fish oil by a mile and some more! Those who are popping garlic pods, and turmeric pills, fish oil capsules are not doing anything for their lipid profile. Takeaways: 1. Stop taking pills on your own. They have zero benefits and may actually harm you. 2. If you are obese, have poor lipids, family history of Cardiac conditions, please consult a Cardiologist. Probably, he will start you on statins. 3. Statins have to be taken (usually) for a lifetime. But they will save you your life. 4. If you are worried about the cost of statins, worry more about the cost of a heart attack and putting in a stent!

Quoting an interesting 2023 study from @JACCJournals (Cleveland Clinic , SPORT trial) 🔬 Compared low-dose rosuvastatin (5 mg) vs: 🧄 garlic | 🌿 turmeric | 🌱 plant sterols | 🐟 fish oil | 🌰 cinnamon | 🍚 red yeast rice | placebo in individuals with intermediate ASCVD risk Key findings: •Rosuvastatin 5 mg → ~35% reduction in LDL-C •None of the supplements reduced LDL-C significantly vs placebo •Adverse events → similar across groups •⚠️ Cinnamon showed a trend toward increased hs-CRP (inflammatory marker) 💡 Take-home message: Even a “miniscule” statin dose outperforms popular supplements for LDL reduction. Raw vs. Roasted Pistachios: Does heat destroy the health benefits? 1️⃣ Raw wins slightly on total polyphenols (~7% higher) and sensitive flavonoids. 2️⃣ Roasted preserves the majority of antioxidant capacity and can even BOOST Vitamin E. 3️⃣ Stability: Lutein and zeaxanthin stay strong through the roasting process. The Takeaway: If you're a "polyphenol purist," go raw. If you prefer the flavor of roasted, the difference in total antioxidant activity is negligible. Eat the ones you enjoy!

Hikaru Nakamura spent 67 minutes on a single move. He still got it wrong. This is a wake-up call for doctors, investors, and high-stakes decision-makers: Does thinking longer actually improve accuracy? Most people believe the myth: “More time results in Better decisions.” Cognitive science says otherwise. The Expert Paradox True expertise is not about thinking longer, it is about thinking faster. As Daniel Kahneman detailed in Thinking, Fast and Slow, our brains operate on two frequencies: System 1: Fast, intuitive, and driven by decades of pattern recognition. System 2: Slow, analytical, and prone to fatigue. For a seasoned professional, System 1 is your superpower. It is not a "guess"; it is a high-speed data processing engine that has indexed thousands of previous cases, charts, and outcomes. The Clinical Reality In medicine, most correct diagnoses are made within the first few minutes of a consultation. When an expert overthinks, they are not discovering new truths; they are usually: 🔸Second-guessing a correct initial instinct. 🔸Falling victim to cognitive fatigue. 🔸Succumbing to "Analysis Paralysis." The Investor’s Trap In the markets, extra time often leads to "noise" absorption. You start seeing patterns that don't exist and over-weighting insignificant data points. Beyond a certain threshold, more thinking doesn't decrease risk, but it increases error. ✅ The "Sweet Spot" Strategy The goal is not to be impulsive, but to be efficiently intuitive. Step 1: Trust your System 1 (The initial pattern recognition). Step 2: Use a brief System 2 audit (The "Sanity Check"). Step 3: Act. If you are 60 minutes into a decision and still doubting your first 60 seconds, you are not analyzing, but you are spiraling. The Take-home message: In your field of expertise, if a decision takes too long, it is often already wrong. Train your intuition, trust your patterns and avoid "the 67-minute blunder". #Neuroscience #DecisionMaking #Investing #Medicine #Productivity Dr Sudhir Kumar @hyderabaddoctor

Chess Grandmaster Hikaru just spent 67 minutes thinking about one move in a pro tournament, the second longest turn ever. After all that time, it was still the wrong move and cost him the game.

The whole industry is Facade. There is no Job of acting. Anybody who would go there influenced by the glamour of it would get exploited. There is no guarantee of work. First of all, there is no guarantee you will get work there. Second, there is no guarantee of continuos and regular work, you never know when you would be out of it and how long you will have to wait for your next project. And you never know how many and how much exploitation you will have to go through to first find and then to retain your place in the industry. Untill and unless you have good source, connection and money, never go there searching a career in the profession of acting.

Don't repair, if it isn't broken. Don't buy a new one if the old is working perfectly fine. Our elders lived by these idioms. These idioms are true not only for appliances but for relationships too. #Relationships

@yaajushi Hmm very subtle way of suggesting Brahmin superiority by implying basic Indian cutlery exclusively belong to and practiced by Brahmins. One question though, did vegetarian Brahmins found meat eating Brahmins as untouchable/repulsive!? I don't know if this exists among Brahmins.

I arrive when the sun burns brightest, A little drop of cool in summer’s fiercest fight. Soft as jelly, clear as glass, Hidden inside, like a secret you can’t pass. Taste me once — I’m sweet yet light, A whisper of coconut, with litchi’s delight. From coastal lands, I make my way, To soothe your heat from March to May. I don’t crunch, I don’t bite— I melt in your mouth, pure summer’s respite.
