I can’t vote in the US but I am honored to live here and have always admired it. I don’t much care for Harris or many of her policy positions. But even more after seeing Trump tonight, I look forward to vehemently disagreeing with her for four years as US president.

@ded I hear what you're saying but I agree with him. There's no such thing as company loyalty. Maybe there used to be. But these days everyone is expendable

I think this view is so narrow sighted and unempathetic. We develop relationships with people at these companies we pour our lives into, feeling purpose, creating value. Transactions and relationships are not mutually exclusive.

@ded Yeah I feel ya. I was thinking it would be interesting to think about ways to incentivize people vs policies to make them take vacation.

@zed You’re right. And I’m just spit balling here. I’m thinking more along the lines of offering minimal legal vacation (like what they do with UPTO). UPTO companies typically offer something like 7 days, so it’s cheaper to pay out.

Unlimited PTO in my experience has mostly been abused by under performers, and causes high performers to burnout faster taking off hardly no time.

@ded I think there are legal requirements to pay it out 🤷‍♂️

@zed Make another policy that you’re not paid for unused. Yet another incentive to actually take the vacation
