At Zimplats, we believe that true progress should never stop at the mine’s boundary. In 2025 alone, Zimplats spent US$283 million on local procurement, paid directly to Zimbabwean companies.​ Through its Local Enterprise Development (LED) programme, the company supports suppliers with training, financial assistance and technical support — enabling them to meet quality standards and scale sustainably.​ The Local enterprises and SME’s supported by Zimplats are owned by community members within Mashonaland West Province... In total, Zimplats’ US$1.8 billion investment is targeted at building capacity for processing and refining platinum here at home, while supporting skills and domestic suppliers.

Major smelter expansion: Zimplats has tripled its smelting capacity to 380,000 tonnes of concentrate per year through a new furnace at its Selous Metallurgical Complex, expanding local processing. The expanded smelter isn’t just for Zimplats’ own ore; it is designed to handle concentrates from other platinum miners in Zimbabwe.

In 2021, Zimplats announced a US$1.8BN investment into its Zimbabwean operations, the single largest FDI commitment in decades. A key part of that investment?
