@AVARY Id only add LA had made it impossible to live in unless you made a very high amount above the nationwide living wage. Detroit didnt quite do that when it lost all its manufactory.

@AVARY Pretty sad, really. Hollywood made its name by having abundant sunshine, and never considered what the next sunshine could be when everyone started shooting indoors via soundstage and cgi. They had 100 years to lose it. May take another 100+ to win it back.

@AVARY Mostly spot-on, save for the mismanagement part. This was engineered by the studios, who are happy to have all these regions going back-and-forth with increasingly rich incentives.

@AVARY According to who? The men that advocated against domestic manufacturing?

@AVARY As an emergency measure, the unions/guilds could agree to suspend all their minimums for five years, then phase them back in gradually. That alone would resuscitate Hollywood.

@AVARY the entertainment industry was bound to be splintered eventually imo. LA just put Hollywood's demise on rails.

@AVARY I'd put 3 at #1. The unions made it impossible to build cars in Detroit, so they moved the factories elsewhere.

@AVARY All true. I would add incompetent and corrupt local government that helped drive away industry. Detroit went from being the wealthiest city in America in the fifties to bankrupt in the 2000s.

@AVARY Everyone I know including myself — is is not working in it. Post-production, producers, writers, camera guys, cant find work. Between streaming services, cheaper tech, outsourcing, , and kids watching streamers and not movies anymore, the industry is falling apart
