In December 2025, I lost the $1k I worked all my life for in exactly three seconds. I didn’t get phished. I didn't lose my seed phrase. I simply "signed" a transaction I couldn't read. Here is how it happened: I was trying to claim a limited reward on a protocol I’d used for months. A pop-up appeared: “Contract Interaction.” I was in a rush, the UI looked familiar, and I clicked "Confirm" without a second thought. Minutes later, my wallet was a ghost town. My wallet showed me a "Hex" blob (a wall of random numbers and letters). It didn't say "you are granting infinite permission to spend your USDC." It just said "sign." I was essentially signing a blank check in a language I didn't speak, trusting the website to tell me the truth. Well, I learnt that trust is a vulnerability. The blind sign is the hacker's greatest weapon because it turns your finger into the trigger. I learnt that security isn't just about a cold wallet—it’s about readability. If your wallet doesn't translate that "Hex" code into "Plain English" on a screen you can trust, you are walking a tightrope in the dark. I was blind. The only fix? Moving to an air-gapped hardware wallet, @era_wallet Let me show you why. 🧵
