The money you paid into Social Security has already been SPENT. 💸

Your money is not kept in a lockbox just for you to earn interest and pay ya back when you become age-eligible to receive the benefits. 🚫 🗃️
It’s not a retirement fund.
The money you get in return comes out of the paychecks of currently working people vis payroll taxes. Beneficiaries will often (albeit not always) get more in return than they paid in. And because the ratio of workers to retirees has shrunk from 16:1 in 1960 to 2:1 today, there aren’t enough workers pitching in to keep the pool of funds filled. So, the government has to borrow money they don’t have to make up the difference.
The Treasury’s BEP then prints money to try compensating for the debt, which then causes inflation.

You have bought into FDR’s scam hook, line, and sinker.
All the more reason it should have been privatized a long time ago.

I understand your argument.
And, I don’t blame you.
My point is that the money you paid into Social Security for x number of years has already been spent. It’s gone.
So, in order for you to get your hundreds of thousands back, realistically, it would have to come from the Payroll taxes of currently working Americans and printing of money by the U.S. Treasury. And, that is already what the existing system does.
The solution to the problem we have with Social Security cannot be what’s causing problem to begin with.
Unless Social Security is privatized such that you have your OWN fund, then any other solution will cause certain people some serious economic pain. This is why this scam should have been dealt with 50 years ago.

So much easier to demonize seniors as if they’re the problem not the potential victim.
