The lack of clear closure might be strategic, to keep options open. TM clearly had no idea what to do with bucktommy, but waiting until the show’s cancellation is confirmed to bring Tommy back so Buck doesn’t end up single is much easier than starting from scratch with a new LI.

Lou and ABC didn't agree on contract terms, OS didn't want a LI, TM didn't want him back... We don't know the reason why he wasn't in S9. All we know is that he was willing for more and it's frustrating bc on a different show things probably would have played out very differently

@217HotPilot This is the show that brings people back. You think the GA remembered that random plane girl from the s8? No and it didn't stop her from returning. Maybe the mentions were closure, but if they don't bring BT back it's not be because the GA won't remember him lol

The mentions can be interpreted as closure: Tommy broke up with him and it was the last relationship that felt real to Buck. They didn't serve any purpose. The GA isn't going to remember in S10 someone who was mentioned twice over 20+ eps and not been on screen for 1,5 year.

I don’t think it’ll go beyond fostering. They saved that SL for the finale to test the waters during the hiatus and revisit it next season if needed. Now they don’t need to bother with a LI either. Bonus point: creating unnecessary drama by taking the child away from Buck.

Like if Lou refused to reprise Tommy, not only would I totally understand, but I'd actually be happy for him.

Not sure why TM would tell him about that SL but tbh it fits. Why would he unfollow OS if he knew they were going to work together again? It’s giving "I no longer have to deal with your toxic ass fanbase" vibes. It was also around the time he left a nice comment on an edit video.

@217HotPilot Buck dating his dead friend's wife is something he wouldn't do if they respected the character, but I do think they could use a child to force him to overcome his addiction, like "now he has a reason to work hard and stay sober, he has to think about the child."
