if you have a filipino friend or colleague you'll notice that they often mix up 'she' and 'he' and that's because the filipino language is already gender neutral to begin with. we're not used to gendered pronouns here.

Filipino (especially Tagalog) is naturally gender-neutral. Siya → she/he Niya → her/his Sa kan’ya → to him/her Anak → son/daughter Kapatid → brother/sister Masyadong sanay sa kultura niyong nakabase ang kasarian sa pagpapalit ng isa o iilang mga salita. Hindi gano’n dito.
