Who is to say which animals it's ok to hunt? The government does that. Set seasons where it is OK, put limits on how many you can take, and what kinds/sex/age, and have laws requiring the meat be used and not left to rot.
You seem to be completely unaware of the laws governing hunting in the US.

Predation is the number one cause of death in animals in the wild. How would you prefer to go? Shot through the lungs and bleed out almost instantly, or get ripped apart by a monster that then begins eating you while you're still alive? The ones that don't die that way either die from disease or starve. Almost none die from old age.
