@LenMarkidan Handling objections is a big part of marketing. There is layered craft to it but when you're the product (like when applying for new opportunities), it can be a whole different animal. It's tough to navigate but it's worth it just being honest and open.

7. Know what your weaknesses are, and tackle them head on in your application. Almost NO candidates will check all of the boxes in the job posting. But explain why they should talk to you anyway.

Creating great job applications is not dissimilar from doing great marketing. 👇

@LenMarkidan Podia had a great question on yesterday's application just like this. I know exactly what you're talking about. I took the tact of being honest and up front while trying to describe the layered process I would follow to get those answers. I also answered the question. 😁

5. Sometimes (often) applications will ask for your opinion on a business problem the company is facing. Sometimes (often) you wont have complete information to answer the question.

@LenMarkidan 💯 🙌 There is craft to grabbing attention. Explosions, cats, bikinis, outrage. All those feed algorithms but don't solve business brand problems. In hindsight, applying w a video of me holding a cat in a bikini and yelling while I throw dynamite might not have been wise. lol🤣

3. Capturing attention is important, but the RIGHT kind of attention. Cursing or using caps in your opener or saying something weird is the wrong (but common) way to do this. You’ll be tasked with representing the company to the market. Who wants to be represented this way?

@LenMarkidan I applied to your Director of Marketing position yesterday and I think I had a good handle on your needs given the job description, which I really liked by the way, but....I wanted to stop by and just ask you. Of these three, which would you say is closest to your problem?

For example, are they looking for a content marketer because... ...they don’t do any content marketing and realized they need to start? ...their content marketing isn’t working and they need to fix it? ...their content marketing works and they want to pour fuel on the fire?

@podia +1 Agreed! Growing an audience is the toughest part but in my experience that is largely because the audience people envision is "fame" not community. Community is the secret. 🤫😆 Very cool that you made a course sharing these insights! I should check that out. 👀
