I reject this thought. Nine times out of ten, if a person is tasked with adapting a comic or book and they aren't basically trying to translate it to screen as closely as possible, then they’ve failed. Plain and simple. Especially with comics, the most you have to do is figure out how to capture the same motion and energy from the panels in film/animation. The Invincible show couldn't even emulate the comic’s color grading. The example was right there, right in front of them, all they had to do was execute, but nah. In most instances, they cheap out. Rex’s funeral is the epitome of it. It’s not lack of talent imo. It’s cheapness and pure ass laziness.

Comics are not storyboards. Filmmakers/story artists can certainly take inspiration from the original material, but the medium itself isn't a straight transfer. There are things unique to each medium which are specific to said mediums.

Invincible hurts me, because it has the potential to be great. It has 3 compendiums worth of comics and is a huge part of that loosely connected Imageverse. It’s a prime adaptation material. With it being a comic, it’s basically already storyboarded too. Instead, Kirkman decided to majorly cheap out on the animation, turn it into celebrity voice cameo slop, and make a bunch of baffling changes. It kills me.
