After the meeting in Abu Dhabi, the U.S. side proposed de-escalatory steps – halt to strikes against energy infrastructure. They also raised the issue of halting attacks on other critical infrastructure. Yet we saw strikes on the railroad and other facilities. Nevertheless, there were no strikes on energy infrastructure. The Americans expected that this would hold for a week. Today, the Russians struck us with 71 missiles and 450 drones. If you look at the strike package Russia intended to use at the moment the previous negotiations in Abu Dhabi concluded, at that point, they had less of everything. What did they do? They delayed the strike, increased the number of missiles and drones, and hit us during the coldest days. So I wouldn’t say anyone presented us with a gift. I don’t think that’s what happened. They struck with a package one and a half times larger than what they could have used back then. It was a very sensible proposal: let’s show the entire world and our societies that de-escalation steps are underway. The Americans logically suggested this until the next meeting. And that’s how it should have been, so the next meeting could take place, and then the parties would continue discussing other ways to de-escalate and how we see the war ending. The meeting was postponed for reasons unrelated to Ukraine, to Wednesday–Thursday. And from our perspective, de-escalation should have continued. Yet, it has not.

I hope people understand what happened here. Yesterday in the late afternoon, Trump said that Putin had promised not to attack Ukraine in such a way that it would damage their heating. Then a few hours later, that is exactly what the Russians did in a massive attack. Add 2 and 2 together and what do you get? Trump helping Putin by deliberately passing on disinformation in the hope of lulling people into a false sense of security. Once again, Trump is helping Putin kill Ukrainians.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Trump: "I did call up President Putin and he's agreed -- they have the same cold wave that we do, maybe different because it's pretty far away, but it's the equivalent. And Ukraine is a very cold country, it's much colder than us. It's colder than, on average, Canada or colder. I asked him if he wouldn't shoot for a period of one week and he's agreed to do it."

For the first time in history, underwater drones 'Sub Sea Baby' blew up a Russian submarine of the 636.3 'Varshavyanka' class (NATO classification - Kilo). As a result of the explosion, the submarine suffered critical damage and was effectively put out of action 👀

Thrilled to share that I’ll be joining IMB Mainz in February 2026 to start my own group! We will explore new mechanisms in eukaryotic gene expression, leveraging ‘evolutionary play’ to uncover how regulation, repurposing, and hijacking shape RNA biology. PhD positions available!

Norway: Russian drones detected over Ørland Air Base where F-35 stealth fighters are stationed. Russia is identifying key targets across Europe for decapitating strikes to kick off a ground invasion of the Baltic states. Whether Russia actually does that is up to Europe.

Sweden: Unidentified (Russian) spy drones detected over the Karlskrona Naval Base - the largest naval base in the country. Yesterday Sweden sent some anti-drone tech to Denmark after unidentified (Russian) drones were detected there too.

Let me tell you one thing, “as a Russian”. If Poland shot down the first ever drone that remotely SEEMED to go their way, this wouldn’t have happened If Russia was completely isolated after the Crimea annexation, the war in the rest of Ukraine wouldn’t have happened If Georgia was properly helped when Russia invaded in 2008, the Crimea annexation wouldn’t have happened This is how it works, and the progression will continue until you stop it or until it is too late to stop

Map showing reported Russian drone incursions into Poland. Does not look random (14 drones): It looks like a deliberate attempt by fascist Russia to test NATO air defenses over a part of Polish territory used as a transit point for Western aid to democratic Ukraine.

In decades to come, there will be many books written about how European states with well over 500 million people and an economy more than 20 times the size of Russia and approx equal to the USA, end up a group of sad bystanders in the making of their own destiny.

Russians killed 14 people in Kyiv last night. Meanwhile, Trump had a "great conversation" with Putin, where he assured that he wanted peace.

As of now, 31 people are known to have been killed in Sumy by the Russian ballistic missile strike. Among those killed were two children. My condolences to the families and loved ones… More than 84 people have been wounded, including 10 children. All of them are receiving the necessary assistance. It is crucial that the world does not stay silent or indifferent. Russian strikes deserve nothing but condemnation. There must be pressure on Russia to end the war and guarantee security for people. Without truly strong pressure, without sufficient support for Ukraine, Russia will continue dragging this war out. It’s now the second month that Putin has been ignoring the U.S. proposal for a full and unconditional ceasefire. Unfortunately, there in Moscow they are convinced they can keep killing with impunity. Action is needed to change this situation.

Funny, the countries that didn't get tariffs: Russia North Korea Cuba Venezuela Berlarus Somalia Burkina Faso are, except for Cuba, which abstained, the same countries the US voted together with against the UN resolution condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. 🤔

When historians look back on the past few years, the decisions of the US government to first keep democratic Ukraine from winning and then to switch to supporting dictatorial Russia, will be seen as some of the worst in US history.
