Shawnee Public Schools is getting national attention 🎥 This past weekend, PBS’s MotorWeek featured a segment on Shawnee’s deployment of electric school buses—highlighting innovative efforts happening right here in our region. The segment includes interviews with Shawnee Public Schools Transportation Director John Wiles and ACOG Air Quality & Clean Cities Planner @DavidFrick, and showcases the leadership of the Shawnee Public Schools team in bringing this project to life. A big thank you to Shawnee Public Schools for working with the production team on a great feature, and to the DOE-funded Clean Cities program staff at the National Lab of the Rockies for helping make this national spotlight possible. Warm, dry weather pushed all of Oklahoma into drought conditions by the end of February. Recent rain could signal a wetter spring as La Niña weakens, but conservation now is key. The water we receive this spring may need to last all year. 💧 bit.ly/4b84UV7

Despite the snow, January was one of Oklahoma’s driest winters on record. 🌧️ Just 50% of normal precipitation 💧 Several major reservoirs below typical levels 🌦️ Possible storm relief in March–April We’re not in dire straits—but conservation now matters. 2025: The Year of the Big Recharge ✔️ April–June delivered nearly 150% of Central OK’s annual aquifer recharge ❌ The rest of the year ran ~10 inches below normal rainfall 📉 December was among the driest in 100+ years 💧 Reservoirs remain above 75% capacity 🌧️ La Niña may weaken this spring—bringing better storm chances We’ll keep monitoring conditions as 2026 unfolds. bit.ly/4qITPjs
