On April 20, 1914 Colorado National Guardsmen opened fire on a coal mining tent colony. 13 women and children were found in the smoking rubble. These families had been kicked out of the company towns after striking for safety measures and poor wages. The massacre sparked anger and ten days of guerilla warfare between the militant workers and national guards. The Colorado Fuel and Iron company, owned by the Rockefeller oligarchy, even called on Woodrow Wilson to send troops to fight against the workers. Now more than 110 years later, we reflect on how the state collaborates in protecting the interests of monopoly capitalism and the bravery of workers who rise against it.

The crimes of the Epstein class have so far gone unpunished, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be defeated. The American Communist Party calls for a popular front to end the occupation of our country, and to establish justice and popular sovereignty!

ACP Colorado attended the most significant meatpacking strike in decades at JBS's flagship plant in Greeley, which employs 3,800 workers and processes nearly 6% of all U.S. beef. Our members stand in solidarity with thousands of workers fighting for better wages and safer working conditions. One of our members had the opportunity to interview a Haitian worker at the plant. He shared his perspective on the strike and what's at stake for the predominantly immigrant workforce.

ACP Colorado addressed anti-ICE protesters at the Colorado State Capitol in Denver, highlighting how ICE emerged from the post-9/11 Patriot Act security state expansion and warning its growing powers threaten the popular sovereignty and civil liberties of citizens and immigrants alike.

Over the past few months, ACP Colorado has adopted and maintained a park in Colorado Springs—serving as official park stewards by removing waste and maintaining playgrounds so families can enjoy clean, safe spaces.

ACP Colorado returned to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity to help build affordable housing units and acquire hands-on construction experience.

ACP Colorado stood alongside hundreds in Denver this weekend to oppose U.S. military aggression in Venezuela, which violates the sovereignty of both the Venezuelan and American people.

ACP Colorado cadre are gaining hands-on construction experience, learning advanced fabrication techniques for mass production of affordable housing, and why affordability cannot be achieved as long as inflated asset prices are protected for landlords, financiers, and rent-extracting elites.

Denver is one of America’s key freight crossroads, where rail, road, and air connect the nation’s supply lines. Drayage truckers move everything, yet the drivers are misclassified, underrepresented, overworked, and underpaid. ACP stands with the Intermodal Draymen Association to change that.

ACP Aura. Work hard, play hard. This past weekend, ACP TX hosted Chapters from across the Southwest for a Summit in Amarillo to build deeper ties in our bioregion, learn about the critical importance of (and dangerous draining of) the Ogallala Aquifer, and finally to celebrate our first full year of Party activity. Thanks to the graciousness of Ogallala Life, the Party got a full presentation on the Ogallala Aquifer, its history, and the monied interests & old money families currently depleting the groundwater source for short-term financial gains at the expense of sustainable agricultural production and the working people of the High Plains region. After strategizing on new fronts of Party activity, we kicked back and enjoyed everything Amarillo had to offer. Cigars, gun range, horseback riding, canyon hikes, good BBQ, and unforgettable memories with comrades. It’s these moments that make us a stronger, more unified Party. It’s an honor to celebrate the first anniversary of our Party with cadre from across the nation, reflect on our gains, and strategize for what’s ahead as we continue the fight for American working class power & sovereignty. The struggle takes on new forms in our second year, and our Summit got us ready for the challenge. Let’s get it.

ACP Colorado sent cadre to the ACP Southwest Summit, where we attended an engaging and informative lecture on the significance of the Ogallala Aquifer system, deepened our understanding of the land question, and strengthened the bonds that make us a fighting force.

This community resource, which currently provides food and support to hundreds of families per week, is now under threat of closure due to an eminent domain deal by the city—jeopardizing essential services for some of Denver’s most vulnerable residents.

This weekend, ACP Colorado partnered with All Brothers in Christ Ministries Food Pantry in Denver to distribute food to those in need.

Members of the Colorado, Oklahoma, and Kansas ACP chapters joined the United Mine Workers in commemorating the Ludlow Massacre—one of the bloodiest attacks on organized labor in U.S. history.
