Logistics operators who do not mine but transport the minerals earn about N500,000 per truck they move out of the forest. The Chinese are actively participating in buying the minerals, making this a billion-dollar economy that is being illegally exploited. The Federal Government and Oyo State Government must pay urgent attention to this illegal mining operation. The scale of the activity suggests a well-funded and well-protected criminal network that is siphoning billions of naira from the nation's resources while destroying a protected national park.
