Attended a ROP education day in Northampton today hosted by CK Patel and Katy Powis It was a specialised meeting on ROP related topics with some practitioners around the country. I particularly liked how fast the Northampton ROP team have developed their nurse-led screening team from scratch - essentially moving from a standing start after their ophthalmologist retired a few years ago to now a full blown Optos powered ROP round. Some good science and cases shared, and we also got to hear from a family who went through screening and treatment which was quite unique. The best part was chatting to colleagues and hearing about the strengths and weaknesses of their own ROP service - highlighting similar issues that we all face in this resource-tight climate.

Team meeting this morning. This is a productive time where we reflect and plan to build improvements in patient care and experience, as well as developing our clinical practice.

Today our optometrists Beth, Rachael, Tamara and Michelle presented at the NW Hospital Optometrists Meeting, at Alder Hey. An afternoon of discussion in the world of paediatric ophthalmology. The attendees hopefully left with new insight in the fantastic work done at Alder Hey.

Last week, a colleague Mr.Shergill from Kettering came over to visit @AHOphthalmology for 2 days. I was really pleased to be able to show him a surgical forceps that I was working on!
