I’ve struggled with whether or not I wanted to do this. I think it’s time I just say it, and let the chips fall where they may. I know a lot of people are hopeful about tonight’s ACC Championship Game. They shouldn’t be. UVA is the better team, clearly one of the 12 best in college football. They deserve to be mentioned with Georgia, Indiana, Texas Tech. Duke is not good. This will be a beatdown, just like last month when these two teams played in Durham. It’s just the reality. UVA will win the conference with its superior players and top-tier roster, blowing little brother JMU out of its menial playoff position once and for all. Have you seen UVA’s tennis trophies? Lacrosse? Soccer? Squash? This is an athletic department that just knows how to win intense, physical championship bouts. The Cavaliers know how to play as favorites in a high-stakes football game. We’re going to see all that historical pedigree on the field tonight. It was a good run and a great season in Harrisonburg. But we must all face the truth now, with the afterglow from last night fading. Duke has absolutely no chance to win tonight’s game. Here’s what I’m trying to say: Duke is doomed.
