Draymond Green is a prime example on how having a ring doesn’t make you better than someone else. Him having rings has him thinking he’s a lot better than what he actually is.

The next coach for the Magic will have to scheme around 2 big wings who can't playmake or shoot, an undersized C and no starting caliber PG on the roster. It's not that appealing of a job to anyone who wants to win championships.

Austin Rivers challenges Draymond Green to a 1-on-1 😳 “Motherfu*er, why don’t you play me 1-on-1, Draymond? You can’t do handoffs in 1-on-1. You can’t run no pick-and-roll in 1-on-1.” (Via @ToTheBaha / h/t @NBA__Courtside )

I'm not sure if Donovan is the best option for us, but the overview of him among Magic twitter seems really absurd. The common response to Billy Donovan is his lack of success. His only true contender was 2016 OKC. They bounced a 67-win Spurs team in 6 games; and yes they blew the 3-1 lead to the 73-win Warriors. Is it Donovan's fault KD/Russ shot sub-40% from G5-G7 and Klay went nuclear with 11 threes in G6? He maximized Russ in 2017 with a dead bench earning him that MVP. In 2018, PG and Melo were awful against Utah (both sub-37% FG from G2-G6). In 2020, when OKC was projected to be a sub .400 win team, they finished with a 44-28 record and his creative CP3/Shai/Schroder lineup was a +25.9 net rating in 370 minutes together. With Chicago, he squeezed the most out of Lavine, DeRozan, Caruso, White, Dosunmu, Giddey to their best ability, despite them being flawed players in general. Those '24-'26 Bulls teams overperformed all 3 years. What exactly was he supposed to do otherwise? I would love to know
The Magic Way@MagicFilmRoom

Is the negative overview on Billy Donovan more so because of the 2007 saga or because people think he's not a good head coach?

Jalen Suggs hate has gone out of control. He was the best play on our team in game 1. A couple of bad ones don’t define his career.

Billy Donovan has been past the first round of the NBA playoffs once. His first season with Oklahoma City ten years ago when he won 55 games. Never won more than 49 after that. Over the next 9 years he had a combined playoff record of 8-20 Jamahl Mosley’s playoff record: 7-12
Mike Bianchi@BianchiWrites

Nearly 20 years later, it's time for the Orlando Magic and Billy Donovan to run it back and finally get it right. Here's my column: orlandosentinel.com/2026/05/05/orl…
