As someone who grew up here, this is a vastly transplant perspective on things- sure, much of this is true, if you only desire to be here for career fulfillment and not uplifting the community or the environment, the city will chew you up and spit you out, and rightfully so.

nyc is not the greatest city in the world. everyone there is using each other for money or validation. the average age someone gets married is 35. everything is so expensive. unmarried 31 year olds are paying 5k for a studio apartment. that sounds like hell
