This is enforced by its vote system: Post something that the hivemind agrees with to receive an upvote, or post something that the hivemind disagrees with to receive a downvote.
If a reply receives too many downvotes, that reply is sent to the bottom of the reply section and hidden unless manually unhidden.

There's no proper discussion on Reddit because it's impossible to have a debate if the opponent's rebuttal is optional.
Even if a user states objectively true information, all another user has to do is click that blue downvote arrow; now all the other users will assume that objectively true information is false.

The downvote system was created for content moderation, for posts that "don't contribute to the subreddit it's posted in or is off topic in a particular community".
However, that's not how it's used, and likely never was. A downvote effectively states "I disagree. I can't back it up, but I insist you're wrong".

In addition to downvote moderation, subreddits have human moderators that decide what content is allowed and are known to purge any wrongthink.
These moderators are the most militant Communists on Reddit. They take pride in silencing right-wing voices, banning users, and erasing posts.

Reddit needs to be shut down; buying the website won't help. Even if all the human moderators were replaced, it's userbase is so thoroughly propagandized they'd simply abuse the downvote system into maintaining the biased status quo.
