@retneysholocron Rey becoming a pilot happens in the moment because the plot needs a pilot, there is no setup for Rey suddenly having these skills. You could have Poe in the scene and it would be more fitting* or even have something mentioned prior.

@retneysholocron Luke has implied experience with the T-16, and even then he’s not a fantastic pilot even crashing twice in empire. It’s only the use of the force that helps him in the trench run

two characters, established as pilots, attempt to fly an unfamiliar ship, have trouble at first, but after a learning curve, figure out the controls and fly better. one is acceptable, the other is brought up in every discussion about why a character is so "awful". why is that?
