The Balkans weren’t always this Slavic. Before the 6th century, the region was mostly Roman provinces with Latin-speaking populations mixed with Illyrians and Thracians. Then everything changed. Starting in the 500s, Slavic tribes began crossing the Danube. At first they came as raiders with the Avars, but soon entire families started settling. They moved into the mountains and depopulated countryside, avoiding the big coastal cities. Over the next 200 years, they slowly took over most of the inland Balkans. The locals who survived either retreated to the highlands or were gradually absorbed. By the early Middle Ages, much of the peninsula had become what the Byzantines called “Sclavinia” — Slavic land.

Good morning, my little Russophobes ☀️🇷🇺 Before your daily prediction of Russia’s imminent collapse, here’s a reminder: 🇷🇺 First satellite in space 🇷🇺 First human in space 🇷🇺 First spacewalk 🇷🇺 The only country to successfully land spacecraft on Venus 🇷🇺 Largest country on Earth 🇷🇺 Largest nuclear-powered icebreaker fleet 🇷🇺 Most chess grandmasters 🇷🇺 20% of the world’s trees 🇷🇺 Largest wheat exporter 🇷🇺 World’s largest natural gas reserves 🇷🇺 World’s largest diamond producer 🇷🇺 Home to Lake Baikal, containing 20% of the planet’s unfrozen fresh water 🇷🇺 A currency that refused to collapse despite the “economic ruin” headlines Strange accomplishments for a country that’s supposedly on its last legs.

My stay in Brussels radicalized me. After many conversations with politicians and activists, I realized how broken the system is. The EU feels like a modern version of socialism—more polished, better marketed, and wrapped in appealing slogans. Too many people buy the illusion without questioning the results: cultural fragmentation, rising crime, growing dependency, and declining public trust. The system rewards victimhood and complacency instead of ambition, responsibility, and excellence. This is a model of decline. We need a Europe that rewards hard work, innovation, family formation, and self-reliance. A society that inspires people to build, create, and reach their full potential. Europe is at a crossroads. The time for a Revolution! 🇪🇺
