I highly recommend watching "take care of Maya". It's about the medical system labeling parents as abusive when they don't understand an illness. The medical trauma caused by this labeling is immense and the financial cost is incredibly placed on families who never made a choice.

being able to focus more, being able to fidget in order to concentrate without judgment, etc. Asking someone to turn on their cameras is ableist.

Many people have very productive calls without their cameras on. There are many reasons why a person may want their camera off such as reducing overstimulation, reducing stress in their eyes especially if their vision is impacted by devices,

Allowing zoom cameras to be off is an accommodation and provides accessibility. There is a huge misconception that having your camera off equals to "not paying attention". It's ableist!.

@EmilyTreichler They got it completely wrong. Historically his madness was documented and recent research believes he had bipolar. Some thought he had a physical condition, he did have seizures but regardless he had psychosis. Their depiction was just unrealistic and offensive

"Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story" is about psychosis and I don't know why these people don't consult with people with lived experience.

@ErinsoroS I'm working on a piece that will further expand on my views of the show. I will share it once I am done as there is so much to cover.

@AllilsaF Would like to read your thoughts. I haven’t seen this show, but will be curious to watch it. I appreciate your critique of media representation—the tired tropes have terrible consequences. I’ve had conversations with people who think psychosis just means violent.

When will national tv stop portraying psychosis as violent or harmful, or something where people should be completely isolated or else they will become the killer or an out of control person?. The narratives around psychosis continue to be harmful and many will not seek support
