@detroitotaku @whocarestcg1 @getonthestiix During the Wii u flop in 2014 shareholders pushed for layoffs the CEO of Nintendo at the time worked out of agreement to take a 50% pay cut so he wouldn't have to lay all 5,000 people he was a upstanding person The majority of other CEO around the world is not doing that

@Alucardwar @whocarestcg1 @getonthestiix Nintendo executives aren’t compensated based on stock performance. They’re still buying back stock en masse. They just recently bought back $630 million in shares. If the shareholders did have power, Iwata would’ve been fired during the Wii U era.

Nintendo is not a company that is driven by shareholders, they make all of their money selling products to fans and will survive by maintaining that direct to consumer relationship. investors are basically tanking the share price because they realize they cannot control them.
Dr. Serkan Toto@serkantoto

Nintendoomed? As per Friday's earnings, Nintendo sits on US$13.3B in cash+highly liquid investments (even under the terrible currency rate now). So even if Nintendo lost US$1M per day, they could theoretically continue operating until 2062 in the current configuration. $NTDOY

@detroitotaku @whocarestcg1 @getonthestiix That is the equivalent of buying a car for $50k with tax fees and everything included and them giving you a 4K discount it's cool but you still paid 46k up front so that Nintendo buy back a lot of companies do that to appease investors and entice new investors

@detroitotaku @whocarestcg1 @getonthestiix That's 630 million buy back was only 11.43 million shares Nintendo has approximately 1.16 billion to 1.3 billion share on the market that little buyback is nothing that's just the pit more money and shareholders pockets cuz the company was doing good

@detroitotaku @whocarestcg1 @getonthestiix Look at Pepsi one of their new biggest shareholders is forcing them to reduce price on their items and got the majority of shareholders votes to prove it now Pepsi is doing it it's just how the different laws work

@detroitotaku @whocarestcg1 @getonthestiix The way the laws work in different countries shareholders have huge power in the direction of the company I'm talking about the ones with 5% to 8% or more can easily change the direction of a company if they get enough of the other big shareholders to vote in their favor

@xvwza @Jig5awYT @wahab_twts We already seen Google take the easy way with gang streaming and failed Amazon same thing so it's no way Apple will try to Make console hardware it's simply too expensive now that is something companies who was interested so that did 20 years ago now it's just DOA

@xvwza @Jig5awYT @wahab_twts A game release so for at least a year they'll have to keep paying the developer for at least a year afterwards just to patch/up day / make more content and that's for average performing game it can always flop or be a huge success which mean more people need to come in and help

@detroitotaku @whocarestcg1 @getonthestiix For example Amazon founder Jeff only own 8 to 9% of Amazon he made the company so ain't no way the original Nintendo founder family owns any majority controlling share of the company with Nintendo being 136-year-old company

@detroitotaku @whocarestcg1 @getonthestiix not how that works 99% of publicly traded company majority of their shares is owned by outsiders like the general public/ other companies /government /private equity it's only a small few publicly traded companies that the original founder/family might own 30% at the highest

@xvwza @Jig5awYT @wahab_twts Plus the cost to develop console hardware that they will have to sell at a loss to gain market share they're not willing to do that So their best option will be to make it easier for game to run on Mac That'd be less time and less money

@xvwza @Jig5awYT @wahab_twts Apple don't have any game studios so they'll have to buy some or purchase third party time exclusive games which none of the AAA games studios will go for Just to make AA to AAA game 3 to 7 years rushing and it can easily flop apples not trying to invest that money and time

Gonna be honest, this take is wild lol GTA5 made over a billion dollars in its first week without PC launch even being live yet. Over 32 million copies sold in the first couple months. Wtf is this post even lol
Syd Steyerhart@SydSteyerhart

This game is going to bankrupt Rockstar. It has to sell roughly 13 million copies (at $80/each) just to break even. The rising cost in computer hardware has shrunk the potential market of those who even have the necessary specs to play it, and the writing is probably garbage.

@AlwaysByrnes @K__Med Quit crying and Xbox failure was due to them not making games and relying on Halo gears and Forza for years before they started buying up Bethesda and activisions and other Phil Spencer was a white dude in charge who flat out said he only got the position cuz it was nobody else

@K__Med Ok sure. Let's pretend that's not happening. Let's pretend that moving away from merit has nothing to do with it. That wouldn't undermine creativity or anything. It's working well for Xbox.

Been reading the replies and the projection is actually hilarious. Dudes swearing it’s “just about quality” and “forced politics” while throwing tantrums because the protagonist isn’t a white dude from 1998 who never challenges their worldview. You’re not mad at “DEI.” You’re mad you’re no longer the undisputed default and it shows in every meltdown. I already said some of the lazy representation stuff is absolutely dumb. That’s not the debate. The real issue killing our hobby isn’t diversity quotas. It’s the full-on commercialization of gaming. Passion is gone. Pride in craft is gone. Creativity got replaced by focus-group slop, shareholder mandates, and safe, soulless product designed to hit every demographic checkbox while saying nothing meaningful. Strip the “woke” elements out of half these flops and you’d still have mid garbage because the soul was sold to the boardroom years ago. That’s the part the outrage machine conveniently ignores while screaming about one Indian protagonist or a lesbian side character. Games used to be our weird, beautiful, chaotic hobby made by people who loved it. Now it’s just another quarterly earnings line. That’s what actually ruined it, not the fact that someone who doesn’t look like you gets to be the hero or the villain sometimes. The gaming industry is growing up, whether we like it or not. Don't buy what you don't like, support indies and smaller developers that still have passion and let's move past the lazy "DEI ruined everything" copout.
K-Med@K__Med

The "significant backlash" that Saros is getting (we'll see if it's actually significant when we get sales numbers) is making me think. A lot of the anti-woke crowd doesn’t actually hate politics in games. They hate not being the default anymore. For years games catered almost entirely to guys, so a certain slice of players got used to every protagonist looking like them and every story orbiting their comfort zone. Now when a game shifts even a little away from that, they act like the medium has been taken over instead of just growing. What they want is sameness dressed up as purity. They want every game to feel like the ones they grew up with, so they never have to think about who else plays games. It is not about loving games as an art form. It is about wanting the industry to freeze in place, so they never lose their spot at the center. This doesn't go for EVERYONE that might align with that crowd though. There are some valid arguments to be made about shoving stupid shit into games just for representation, but I think most of these dudes are too dumb to think that deep.

@iCrow92 @Saix_XIII @Wario64 The reason they changed it supposedly it was a way to buy a game and transfer it from PS4 to PS5 or PS5 or PS4 and refund it and you wouldn't lose the license so this patch that issue in the system

@Saix_XIII @Wario64 So what actually happen if the license expires? Does it just stay expired until you do an online check-in, and then it still becomes a permanent license? I sometimes go months without actually using my PS5 after all, but still buy games on the app beforehand for when I do.
