Well apparently Twitter is no longer accepting graphic photos of mass shootings against the rules so…bye! I’m not gonna put myself in a position to have to see that. I do not need to see that in order to be motivated to address gun violence and really resent the suggestion I do

For far too long, gay and bisexual men have been barred from giving blood by a discriminatory, medically unwarranted practice.   Thank you @US_FDA for this important change which will save lives and advance our progress in the fight for dignity and equality.
The New York Times@nytimes

The FDA ended its decades-long ban on blood donations from gay and bisexual men, a policy that had been denounced as discriminatory. nyti.ms/3pzDxzl

@lagunabayfables That's actually like a whole chapter in that Unmasking Autism book. Very common!

Do my fellow ND people ever feel like they don’t feel emotions “correctly”? I don’t know how to explain it but it’s like there are ways society expects us to feel about certain things but I just. Don’t.

I follow some really lovely, hardworking, successful agents & editors on twitter. But also every single time I log on to this site I see somebody or other (usually not someone I'm actually following) reminding me why I don't want anything to do with trad fiction publishing.

It's felt so WARM. It's been nice, too, to welcome today's lucky ten thousand... apparently all in one place. That's delightful. So I'm seeing people say "yell about the books you love." And I think it's important to add "yell back when someone else yells about a book you love"

That's definitely what I've thought was good about all this. (Other than that I wish good fortune on people I like). People quoting it, talking about their journey into writing, people showing all the pictures of red and blue things together that they've collected...

I feel like the internet of books tries not to look backward. But it should. Because one of the things we love the most, as nerds, is loving things TOGETHER.

This. It works so much better when the rec stops being a rec and becomes a conversation. When people you know for real, who maybe don't know the author, start to find things to discuss about a book. twitter.com/thelionmachine…

@KariDru When a book has been out long enough that people have actually read it and processed it, that's when I start taking recs seriously; I think Time War is benefitting from exactly this second longer tail of it being a book that people STILL talk about if invited to.

But I AM saying that there's a limited amount of buzz you can build when like 20 people on the planet have read a book. "You should read this. I really liked it. It comes out two months from now. HOPE YOU REMEMBER!"

(I'm not saying I don't want arcs, please give me arcs and I will work my behind the scenes magic of getting your book to the weird little pocket of the internet that I have access to which would appreciate it most.)

Bigolus Dickolas Wolfwood is obviously a spectacular hype man with an underrated skill with words, HOWEVER, I don't think the tweets could have done all this without several hundred of us going "ok but for real that book is feckin great."

Trans adult patients are being dropped in Florida. SB254 bans care for youth, but clinics have reached out to report the massive effect on trans adults as well. It bans NPs from giving care. They give the majority of care. Subscribe to support my work. erininthemorning.com/p/trans-patien…
