My bi-annual reminder to my fellow Republicans attending caucus tonight: When voting by hand, please raise your hand directly up over your head – not outstretched in front of you at face level. Trust me, it’s not a good look. #utpol

COVID-19 is on "an inevitable ongoing trajectory of adaptation towards escape from the innate immune mechanisms" Let that sink in. Also, consider that COVID Omicron variants have a reproduction number of 5.08 (1), and Flu and RSV have a reproduction number of 1.3 to 1.9 (2). "Twenty-four studies reported 51 R values for the 1918 pandemic. The median R value for 1918 was 1.80"(2) We don't have a reproduction number for the JN.1 variant, but we do know that "the JN.1 variant contains several mutations that are associated with escape from vaccine-mediated immune protection. Recent research shows that JN.1 is very efficient at immune evasion, resulting in an increased reproductive number."(3) In other words, the CDC would have us believe that we should treat the much slower spreading and less damaging viruses like flu and RSV, which antibodies largely prevent infection and thus limit chance of more severe damage, the same as a much more transmissible, immune evasive and suppressive virus that infects immune cells, and can infect every organ system, including the brain, causing long-term damage and persistent infections to which there are no treatments. 🤔 Unlike flu and RSV, if COVID is on "an inevitable ongoing trajectory of adaptation towards escape from the innate immune mechanisms"(4), then allowing more transmission, aids COVIDs evolution in that direction. Considering these facts, can anyone explain how treating COVID like the flu or RSV makes any sense? 1.pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35262737/ 2.bmcinfectdis.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11… 3. idsociety.org/covid-19-real-… 4. 4. "Evolution of enhanced innate immune suppression by SARS-CoV-2 Omicron subvariants" (Jan 16, 2024) "SARS-CoV-2 Omicron subvariants have achieved dominance, unexpectedly by increasing specific protein expression rather than adapting by protein coding mutation. Crucially, they suggest that improvements in innate immune evasion can continue to enhance transmission, even after establishment in humans. We hypothesize an inevitable ongoing trajectory of adaptation towards escape from the innate immune mechanisms that are the gatekeepers of transmission success." nature.com/articles/s4156…

Imagine if instead of making COVID isolation guidelines as weak as the flu... We approved combo rapid tests and made them free and available for everyone... So that people could tell how long they need to isolate based on science and not feelings, whatever the pathogen.

Not a single person who I’ve asked how immigrants — documented or undocumented — are negatively affecting them personally can give me an answer. We are currently experiencing the worst labor shortage on record. Retail, hospitality, agriculture, are all desperate for workers.

Sometimes I browse homes for sale in Utah and I have 3 questions: 1. Why are they a million dollars? 2. Where do the people who buy them work? 3. Why does the basement of a million-dollar home look like this?

Anyone else try this? I have my first flight in 3 years coming up. I’d love to not have to spend hours trying to locate Enovid in Utah.
Vinny G@vincegtm

@AlisaValdesRod1 I saw a graph comparing the effectiveness for different nasal spray brands at the upper respiratory tract, and Vick's cold defense was tied with Enovid (at a significantly lower price). I have been using Vick's since then. I'll try to find the reference, will post back.
